Welcome
Welcome !!

Welcome!  My name is Patricia Oliver and I am a cancer survivor.  I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in early December 1999.  Soon after I was diagnosed I had a CT scan and started chemotherapy.  After reviewing the results she (my surgeon) told me that my condition was inoperable.

At the beginning I decided that I didn’t want to know how bad I was, so I had my surgeon talk to my husband and our good friend who happens to be a minister.  I told both of them that I didn’t want to hear any bad news, which is the same thing I had told my doctor.  I wanted to keep a positive attitude so I could cure myself, and it would be difficult to do that with any negative energy present.

Everyone, including myself, only thought and said positive things.  I knew I wasn’t going to die, and I would get better in time. (I later learned that my surgeon had told my husband that my cancer was terminal.)  By the end of December I started on a plan of action to get well, and it worked!

About four months after I was diagnosed my surgeon scheduled an MRI to evaluate the progress of my cancer.  After the tumor board at the University of California San Francisco reviewed the results of my MRI, my surgeon decided that my cancer was now operable.  This was my true miracle month.

I had my surgery May 1, 2000 and my surgeon reported very favorable results.  She, along with her surgical team, was able to get all my cancer out.  I had a couple of more chemo treatments and I was well.  My white blood cell count dropped to eleven and subsequently to 5.

I also want to add that all my doctors, nurses and surgeons were fabulous! My oncologist (chemo doctor), his partner, their nurses and staff are the most wonderful, uplifting and terrific group of people and I want to thank them with all my heart.

While I feel you should listen to your physician's advice it is important to remember he/she is constrained by western medicine's focus on empirical scientific thinking and are slow to adopt less traditional methods of treating disease.  There are many other means of helping the body heal itself.  I've been gathering information to try to work with other people so we can all help each other get well.  Someday western medicine will accept that there are other methods that work when battling serious diseases.  The main thing should be to help each individual get well by ALL means possible.

On of the most important things for getting well, and staying well, is prayer.  Regardless of your faith all family and friends that offer a prayer on your behalf are contributing to your recovery.  All their love is inspirational and vital to your well being.  Some people will put your name on prayer lists and once you have people around the country praying for you your piece of mind will improve.  I know I have never felt more loved in my life.  When my husband and I say our prayers of thanks we always ask for a special blessing for those people who prayed for me.

Now I want to share what I did with others.  I also want to find out what other people have done to help cure themselves with or without doctors.  I think we should get this information to people as soon as possible so each individual can decide what he or she wants to do to help themselves get better.  Gathering information is tedious and takes a great deal of time, something people diagnosed with a serious disease don’t have!  The sooner you start helping yourself, the sooner you are on the path to recovery.
